@Jeanette: Thank you!
The LED cans are American DJ Par64 Pro - with the smaller 110mm LEDs, but still work great for a tight spot of color. A standard Par56 with gel should give you the same effect if streaking up the column of fabric. Recommend narrow or very narrow lamps.

Love, Love, Love your set design. Our best compliment to you is that we want to replicate it for a church conference. Thinking of renting the lights -- got a quote for Par56 (575/500 watts) with Gel sheets, however you indicated LED. What size/strength LED did you use to acheive the amazing effects? The church may even purchase the lighting, I just want to be sure to get the right lights to create the same amazing effect on the weed block.

@Paul:
I think they would work; but I've never tried to use them with edge-blending yet. They are tricky enough to get right alone; but who knows, with Perfect Fit they might be super easy to get lined up!
Angle was fine; not noticeable.

Hi there Cameron,
I've just come across this blog and it's given me some new ideas for changing the way we project in our church. Just a couple of questions...
How well do you recon those ultra short throw projector would work in a soft edge blend setup? - I'm thinking 3 units rear projecting onto a 24ft wide screen. Also, with such a short throw, how was the viewing angle with those rear projection screens and was there hot spotting?
Much thanks!
Paul

We might as well come out say it, we don’t like “banner ads” that much. Then again, its not like we have a fondness for billboards on the side of the highway either. Its just that sometimes they can get in our way as a pop up advertisement, or slow down a web page. In the world of banner advertisements, most people suffer from “banner blindness,” which means we can basically see an ad flickering below and ignore it.

@Byran: Thanks man. That screen size is cutting close to my comfort level of brightness for the short-throws; but the 2500 doesn't have perfect fit FYI..

Where are you located?

As always, your posts are fertilizer for the those of us that walk the dangerous creative/technical line. Really impressed with the homemade banners and the rear-projection solution. I know how an original concept like that can be a big question mark until tried out. Good work.

We're looking at implementing 3 104"x140" screens on the floor as a single background at our church. Those projectors seem like they could make this feasible, but our video director keeps the stage pretty hot with can lights. Think the 2k lumen can compete? I'd be willing to go up to the next model that does 2500 lumen.

Camron, you are one sick individual. And I love it. Now your tweet to proctor that said "Weed Block" makes sense. Great design man.

@Brandon: Sorry I'm just seeing this bro! Thanks for the kind words.

When rear-projecting on a white cyc and not a real SCREEN, brightness can drop quite a bit. So; I would suggest taking an equivalent projector you might have and test first. Renting these short-throws are hard because they are marketed towards schools and boardrooms (installations). Are you near Dallas?
