VJ projection party…Why in the world  did I do this?  Cause I can! And it’s cool!  I mean, why not?

I’ll be doing the same thing the next two nights, on the front of First Baptist Church of Coppell, TX.  Stop on by…we had about 20 people brave the cold wind and come out to see it the first night, just hearing about it from Twitter, including a couple of good friends from Fellowship Church in Grapevine.

It was quite a visual treat!  I think we almost caused a few wrecks on the main road leading into Coppell as well.  Oops.

Will someone please get the media on this to show everyone how cool it is?!  I mean it’s on First Baptist Church…You see it in Vegas…Europe…blah blah…but I don’t this see ANYWHERE in North Texas, especially not on a church building.  It has so much potential and beauty…

A lot of these pics show Awake Images; if you haven’t seen their content…go check it out.

HD video of night #1 coming soon…

And for those of you wondering the setup…3000 lumens, PVP, TH2GO, lots of VGA.

Did you feel like Zeus, hurling your lightning bolts for all to see?! :)

absolutely incredible use of Architectural Projection. WOW.

can’t wait to see the video!

did the cops stop by? i think by Friday night they are going to have to direct traffic and keep wrecks from happening. it’s gonna be great.

is there any atmospheric music playing when people roll down their windows or pull over and get out to watch?

are you theming each night with different graphics and images?

there are so many things you can do…wow….my head is spinning. i mean, crazy sick things…. especially the blood dripping down loop from Radiate….don’t know what feeling that might stir up in people… but would be a great discussion starter. “why was that powerful? why did that bother you? why was the cheesy?” i bet you’d get some mixed reactions.

How bright are the projectors you’re using?

Just curious about the distance you had to place the projectors in order to get an image to cover than much surface area? 3000 lumens was really bright enough? Wow. Maybe my projectors are a little on the wimpy side of the 3000 lumens, I don’t know.
    Definitely a cool idea.

just out of curiosity, what are your preferred projectors to use?

    hey everyone…
Camron put in his blog that he’s using 3000 lumen projectors.
doesn’t seem like it would be bright enough, huh? looks like it was enough.

Just goes to show you that you don’t have to wait to buy a bunch of expensive equipment to pull off something unique, fresh and innovative. Be faithful with what God has given you.

we have no excuse, guys. BE CREATIVE.
But also be careful not to look on with envy, as it’s easy to start comparing ourselves with one another, especially in the “rat race” of Easter.
And have purpose behind the creativity and art.
“The greatest failure of media artisans occurs when many people ‘look on and admire without understanding.’”
(Schaeffer, The God Who is There, 33)

That’s what Camron does so well when it comes to events and projects like this, he’s constantly burdened about teaching the heart behind the technology and the philosophical/theological values behind the art we are so easily impressed with.

@Stewart: They were about 50-60′ away…I’ll measure tonight to be sure. And I don’t realy have a preferred projector; just whatever works the best for the situation. :-)

@Proctor: Wow dude…thanks…you’re a blessing. Well said as always.

Seriously; this is the kind of thing that the Church needs to be doing!!! Obviously content is HUGE and matters a great deal, but if churches all around America and the world started getting their imagery OUTSIDE THE WALLS of their building…what would happen?!

Can someone please cut down those power lines? They are blocking my view. Oh, and turn the light shining on the church sign off too. :)

Great work, Camron… can’t wait for our peeps to see your stuff this weekend!
