ECHO Conference 2009 Breakouts
3 Comments Published by Camron Ware - Visual Worshiper March 15th, 2009 in Visual WorshipThe ECHO breakout sessions are live! Lots of great speakers and breakout sessions! Are you coming this year?
Stephen Proctor and I will be leading two back-to-back breakouts on Wednesday about visual worship. If you don’t know Stephen; you need to! He has a huge heart for the Church, missions, and what this whole ’visual worship’ thing is about. Check out www.WorshipVJ.com and www.gi-inc.org.
The first class we are leading will be more technical (hardware, software, lighting, content), while the second class will be a discussion session where everyone can talk about issues/question/topics on using technology for worship. We can’t wait to meet you!
I strongly encourage you to consider coming to ECHO, if nothing else than to connect with people who are right along side you in the Church, but just happen to be across the county.
The community that is built over the course of the conference is invaluable.
Part 1:
Visual Worshiper: Tools and Talent
Most of today’s corporate worship gatherings require some level of visual production. And typically there is tension in finding the balance between knowing what your technology does and how to use your technology as an art-form that truly enhances worship. We’ve all been shown what-to-do; now come learn how-to-do-it.
We will cover several tools for visual worship, and help you discover how they can be implemented in your worship space. Specific topics include main screens usage, Environmental Projection, lighting for video/worship, lyrics/fonts, using live video during worship, content, software, hardware, and much more.
Part 2:
Conversations on Visual Worship
Now that we’ve discussed how to use our tools, it’s time to go deeper and ask the question “why”.
Why do some things enhance while other things distract?
Why is one image more powerful than another?
Why are things like timing, transition & color worth thinking about?
Why is iMAG (live video) needed…or is it?
Why is proper lighting effective?
Why is visual worship important to my congregation?
These are just a few of the discussions we hope to engage in.
This class time is setup as an open forum where all are invited to participate in the conversations surrounding using visual technology to enhance worship gatherings.
Let this dialogue be a catalyst in helping you to artistically and tastefully approach technology in a way that transforms you into a Visual Worshiper that will lead your congregation in ways you’ve never imagined.

I wish I was coming.
Every item in that discussion is so relevant to where the church I go to is at now(notice that I did not say my church, he he he).
have fun – it sounds awesome.
