I got bored again…

I need to find a flatter house though; anyone want to volunteer?

Just curious what do the neighbors think when you are doing this? :)

Too bad you couldn’t find a way to secure and weather proof your gear you could do some cool stuff for a Christmas display!

Actually no one has said anything yet; I do it late enough and I think they are all in bed.

    It’s not Christmas yet… ;-)

Camron… You mentioned before that you’re doing these house projections with a 5,000 lumen projector. Is this really from a **single** projector? I have a 3,500 lumen Epson LCD (7800p) model that’s roughly five years old, and the image brightness that I’m seeing on even a 3 meter projection is incredibly weak with less than 900 hours on the lamp. Are current-model projectors a lot brighter these days, or were ANSI lumens ratings just wildly exaggerated in the past?

Kevin; this was done with (3) 3000 lumen machines. LCD panels degrade over time; and even if you change the lamp out, it can not be as bright. Also, past 500 hours or so, you can also start to see a difference.

Camron…thanks for the reality check on LCD projectors :0( This is actually only the second lamp we used in the 7800p, and it probably has less than 2,500 hours total running time on it. I’ve had my suspicions that we got a lemon to start with, but unfortunately, we didn’t realize how dim the unit was before the warranty ran out.

A couple other projector questions…In your experience, are DLP projectors superior in raw brightness as well as average brightness of the lamp life? I’ve heard that some people are sensitive to the “rainbow” artifacts of DLP technology. Is this an issue for environmental projection?
