Planet Wisdom – Chicago
0 Comments Published by Camron Ware - Visual Worshiper October 19th, 2008 in Lighting DesignWe had a great weekend in Chicago for the opening of the Planet Wisdom Student Conference tour for this year. 1200 kids and youth leaders piled in and lives were impacted…God is so good! We were hosted by a great church that has some very gifted and servant-hearted people. Thanks to Josh and Dave!
Being the lighting director and having a part in the stage design (alongside Jonathan Matlock), I can’t help but get excited about where we have taken this tour production-wise. 30 moving lights, 20 LED PARs, (thanks to B&L Sound and Lighting; I highly recommend them) and a whole bunch of light bulbs and picture frames. We spent countless hours gathering, modifying, hanging, and lighting those frames, and the result was simply awesome. The idea of the frames came from there being frames all over the print media, and we wanted a physical representation to complete the look. I, of course, wanted to somehow incorporate light bulbs, so I stretched fabric over some of the frames and lit them from behind. I’ll show this in detail later on…
I even included a couple of my vintage 2,000 watt studio fresnels, and the 1,000 watt 12″ light bulb hanging above center stage.
I’ll be posting more (and better) pictures as the tour progresses. Here are all the cities we will be travelling to this season. If you’re a youth leader in the area and going to be at the conference, come say hi! I’ll be behind the blue lighting console.
