Beijing Opening Ceremonies

I’m still blown away how talented, dedicated, disciplined, and creative the Chinese are. They put on an incredibly beautiful display telling the story of their culture, both past and present. Their integration of technology with dance and movement was simply gorgeous, and dare I say, flawless?
And what about the gear? The triggered LED drums to countdown the start, the projection around the entire arena, the 500 foot LED wall on the floor, the fireworks, and did I mention the hundreds and hundreds of moving lights? (And did anyone else see the LEDs in the parking lot?) I can’t wait to see the gear list for this show…

I thought those were LEDs in the parking lot. It made me feel a little bit smaller watching all of that.
Oh, me too…it inspired me and humbled me at the same time.
I was totally thinking of you and some of the other Worship VJ’s as I watched the ceremony. Absolutely mind-blowing. Not only did they push the boundary of possibility and excellence technologically, creatively it was without peer. Talk about redefining the art of possibility!
It sure looked great in HD. I like that last screen grab you have – one of my favorite shots (great cam work!). It’s an interesting commentary the concept of Chinas’ masses (conformity, group excellence, communism), yet the individual performers all showed personality and creativity, things which have been at least suppressed in modern Chinese history.
Certainly it will be remembered in history as an artistic and cultural milestone for China.
