More projection
9 Comments Published by Camron Ware - Visual Worshiper July 27th, 2008 in Visual WorshipThis is a picture of our old sanctuary, now called The Commons, where we’ve recently installed two projectors to throw on the side walls (as you can see).
The main screen projectors are still there for showing clips, lyrics…etc. But the architectural projection is throwing straight over the screens. There are a few ministries that meet in that room during the week that have corporate worship, so this all comes into use frequently. I normally project white lyrics on black background on the main screens, and only imagery on the walls. It’s pretty cool because the screens looks ‘normal’ with just lyrics, but when you bring in the wall projection, the screens tend to fade away.
Hopefully this encourages churches with smaller worship spaces!

Camron,
this looks great. one question, though… how do you get the image on the lyric screens to be seamless with the architectural projection? do you have to pre-produce the lyric images to match what will be architecturally projected?
Keep up the fantastic work!
Paul
Paul,
Thanks for the kind words. The lyric projectors are simply projecting white lyrics with a black (“blank”) background. The Architectural Projectors then spread imagery across the entire wall, including the reflective screens. So the 4 projectors (2 per side) are layering over each other, but since the lyric projectors are only showing white text, you get the illusion that you are seeing only one big image on each side of the wall. This is something so easy and powerful; I hope to be able to share this way of doing it more often. You basically get two layers of video, but without a media server/switcher/high-dollar piece of gear.
Camron,
Thanks for that info. Your work is mind blowing and I hope you give us all the insider tricks at Echo in a few weeks!
Geo.
That’s awesome! Can’t believe I haven’t seen that in person yet, but it looks amazing! Way to go!
This is so very cool. Do you run two computers to run the two projectors or are you using something like a mac mini for the visual elements and a regular computer for the lyrics? Looks really great.
There is one computer for lyrics, and one computer for imagery.
Nice and simple setup for that room.
so cool.
great creativity.
what do you use as far as projector for the images, you said four projectors 2 for each side. Are those just for the images, and 2 additional ones for the words?
Its amazing, it looks like it would really add a new dimension to the experience.
There are 4 projectors total. 2 on the main screens, and 2 on the walls. It really comes across well in the smaller space…
